Sign Language is unique

Sign languages are certainly used world wide, wherever groups of deaf people and children come together, but they are not all the same language. They share common features of meaningful handshapes, locations and movements, and use visual/spatial structures that give them more in common with each other than with spoken languages, but they have their own unique rules and vocabularies.
Popular though the notion is of developing a universal language, there is no one universal sign language.
